2 Problem Statement

Consider the following linear, uncertain system with a known measurement delay:

where and are the state and the input vector, respectively, and and M are constant and known system matrices of appropriate dimensions. The unknown actuator faults are assumed to be bounded, i.e., , where is known. The signal encapsulates the uncertainty in the system. It is assumed to be unknown but that it admits a uniform bound where the positive scalar is known. For real systems, methods to establish an appropriate fixed matrix M so that captures the uncertainty are developed in [3]. The measurement delay is assumed to be known and bounded, i.e., for all t, where h is a known bound. It is assumed that the delay is either fast varying (without any constraints on the delay derivative) or slowly varying, where the delay-derivative satisfies a bound of the form .
